The first walk of the season will be on Thursday 12 March starting and finishing at The Bucks Head, Godden Green. I, David Williams, had hoped to go a little further afield to experience a new place to walk and a new pub to lunch in but I fear that the walk I wanted to lead is impassable at the moment because of mud and waterlogged fields so doing a recce this month would be impossible. The advantage of using Godden Green is that we can walk in Knole Park and utilise the tarmac paths for most of the walk.

Please meet at Godden Green outside the pub for a 10:15 start. I expect the walk to be about 4½ miles with no stiles and maybe a couple of short slopes, returning to the pub for 12:30. The Bucks Head’s prices have gone up recently in line with most pubs and restaurants but they do do sandwiches with salad and a handful of chips for £10-£12 and the usual mains £18-£20. The standard of the food and beer remains high. We do not need to order in advance.
