Speaker:  Steve Bird “The Home Guard”. Steve is no stranger to Sevenoaks Probus having given three talks already and, because they have all been well received, we have invited him back to give yet another one. Were the Home Guard just a Dad’s army or a serious military machine with a vital role to play in the defence of this country?  Formed to face the invasion…….or was it?.  The reality was very little like Dad’s Army. Steve will look at the reality and actual plans of how to defend a village in Kent. His talk will also encompass the Home Guard Sevenoaks Division.
